Back to the HK Trip

Sorry for the delays, but I finally got some time off work - my first real break after the HK Trip.

So here are the delayed pix from Day 1

2 blooms the day before we set off.

1st stop after airport was IFC Mall, where we saw these kewl vintage cameras. Clarisse also bought a pair of ninewest shoes - her first, and most expensive shoes to date @134sgd. But it's damn comfy, and looks real unique too.

And we cabbed off to the hotel.

Me, burying myself under the covers, refusing to budge at 4pm.

Somehow, Clarisse got me to get out of there within the next minute.

Next stop: Central & Victoria Peak

On the way, Clarisse takes a shot in front of her Office Tower

And a paronamic view of Central, which her office faces.

Again at the base of the peak.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.!
For dinner that night.

The approaching tram!

All spanking-new as the old one was retired after our last trip. Air-conditioned too!

A better view on the way up!

This time, to make up for what we missed last trip, we bought tickets to Madame Tussaud's!

Clarisse w/ Kelly

And with the highly ADOPTIVE couple

Sheen, don't envy. It's only a wax figure.

W/ the eastern equivalent of MJ, still has sizzling dance moves at this age.

w/ Leo Ku

w/ Janice, the singer of "大哥"

w/ my fave Ayumi!

w/ flash she just looks so waxy... wait ok she IS made of wax.

Extremely notorious at the moment.

One of the most life-like replicas of all

Photo of Andy taking a photo of a statue of himself. 0_O

w/ Leslie... a sadly departed talent...

Also sadly departed.. the one who puts the R in Royalty.

And we present to you, Princess Clarisse... in not so royal garb...

"The United States of America needs change!!!!!"

"Hm... I can give them some CHANGE... if I were still alive."

"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
-Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill

The brave one who spoke up defending what he believed.

The one who dedicated his life to millions others.

Kevin, the right-hand-man of the eloquent speaker who swayed millions.

One of the greatest women ever to live for the sake of her people..
and for whom she lost her life.

Clarisse, instructing the child prodigy.

Amadeus could play the piano fluently by 3, and was composing by 5... an extroardinary musical talent, never before seen, and never rivalled even till now.

Fooling around in a renaissance painting.

The Mao.

The Sun (Yat Sen)

Who happens to be much better respected by e people of china (says Clarisse) than the Mao, despite dying an exile.

Chairman Wen, who is now undergoing baptism by fire amidst bringing China back on track with the rest of the world.

The Lee

Respected by some, envied/hated by some, but always the same principled man. I respect his tenacity despite not agreeing with some of his political principles. Hope his wife gets well soon.

Me: "No, I seriously don't think you can account for the angular momentum and mass of black holes with Special Relativity. "

Einstein: "Ok..... whatever........... ^%#^%@&......."

"Bond. James Bond."

One of the most famous Chinese Opera actresses in HK... but she's kinda old now.

Clarisse getting a little too comfy with that guy *stares*

Jodie Foster
(in Silence of e Lambs garb)

Indy, stressed out from doing his latest movie.

Clarisse, with Hannibal Lector;

who is, quite literally, having an old friend for dinner.

An eternal pop icon, Marilyn.

"Saranghaeyo...."
*KeV stares at Bae*

Leon from a scene out of 小城故事

with the Yao, emphasizing how tall he is.
(It's 1:1 scale)

The guy who's full of tricks.

I plopped on a neglected costume lying on the floor, and everybody wanted to wear it after that... I hate being followed by crowds -_-|||

Hey Tiger...not too bad a shot eh?

........I feel so ignored by him.

Ok so he's in a daze... too much spotlight I guess...

Da King & his guitar

Mick Jagger showing off his crazy wardrobe

Clarisse with the Brit Crooners

Doesn't matter if you're black or white!

Loved his music, loving it, and will always love it. Passion is the reason.

Hey dude don't try to tell me about your hobbies. Really, I insist. SERIOUSLY I DON'T WANNA KNOW... -_-|||

The late dazzler with fans from Japan all the way down to Sg.

Joey Yung, one of my fave artistes... but another victim of the Edison Saga. *sigh*

w/ Miriam Yeung

Finished our tour of Madame Tussauds, didn't buy any of the memorabilia (including pix taken by their SLR's), which were at cutthroat prices.

And we went out of the building for a stroll on the walkways around the peak.

Peak Tower

The view from outside. Madame Tussauds & a shopping mall occupies 3 levels of this 8-storey building. Bubba Gump shrimp is on 6th, and the place where I proposed to Clarisse half a year ago, is on the roof; you can see small silhouettes of people, that's Sky Terrace.

Very foggy. Expected, cos dark clouds were looming on e way up. Apparently rain started and ended while we were up in the clouds, cos the roads were wet on the way back to the hotel.

And we went back into the building for Bubba Gump Shrimp!

Really interesting (and franchised) part of it was the signboards on each and every table.

When you don't need anything, the blue sign is there.

Put on the red sign, and within seconds someone comes to serve.
They are seriously that efficient in service. Well done. *clap clap*

The...erm... ok, I took too long to blog about this, that I forgot the name of the drink.

The cocktails allowed us to redeem a BubbaGump Shrimp Co glass to bring home; Clarisse already had one from NY, so this one was for me.

Six types of nice and juicy shrimps: coconut shrimp, popcorn shrimp, shrimp w/cheese, steamed shrimp, and some others. Served in a nice little tugboat named Jenny. Well, not exactly. Just a paper replica.

Shrimp Stew! Very nice. But tad too salty on its own.
That's what the rice and bread is there for!

The drinks menu comes on a ping pong bat.
Cute reference to Gump.

"And Jenny and I, was like peas and carrots."

And as we r leaving, a pic of the entrance, with a bench, Gump's oversized shoes, and a box of chocolates laid on top of his trunk. You never know what you're gonna get.
