Trigger-Happy Day!

Yesterday (Thurs) was Trigger Happy Day!! I don't know why, but I somehow decided to declare it Trigger Happy Day!! Mwahahahaah *sinister laughter*

ok... ahem. Well not really la. I just felt like resting. Stopped work at 2pm, with my mind flooded with programming stuff, and went out and started snapping pix.

And I have decided to give each nice pic a fitting title. ^___________^

Isolation
Saw a nice lone tree in a large field, and took it.

Power

Was fiddling with my cam to find all different modes.

Found a "golf" mode with super-fast shutter-speed, and accidentally clicked, and I got a nice photo of a car that was actually moving.

But it was dark due to the fast shutter speed. The lighting was enhanced using photoshop, and it turned out quite nice.

Babel
The legendary Tower of Babel was meant to be a bridge to Heaven. Notably mentioned in Genesis 11, the tower was being built by a wholly united humanity.

God then punished Man for his foolish arrogance, and confused them to no longer speak the same language, such that any future efforts in building this tower would be impossible.

This pic somehow brings the Tower to my mind.

The building in picture is My brother's office building, One Raffles Quay.

Nostalgia
The shadow of past glory pervades Collyer Quay. Closed down not long ago, it was once the busiest ferry terminal of the island. What's left now, is a serene empty space, now a mere shadow of what it was in the past.

Erosion
One Fullerton. A modern building, designed with 2 concepts; a Wave on one side, and a Ship's Mast on the other. The side taken in this pic is the wave part. Allegorical, in that the symbolic wave of mankind, has "eroded" this ground with his technological prowess, pitting himself against nature.

Stoicism
Unfazed by the times, The Fullerton building has a really long history. From a colonial building, it was once almost torn down. But in protection of our country's heritage, the building exterior was preserved, and reinforced on the interior, making it stronger than ever before. Now a 5-star hotel, it projects an image of firmness.

Dusk
As I was crossing Esplanade bridge, I saw a nice sunset; so how could I miss it? So I whipped out my camera, and took a nice pic of it. By its side is the clock tower of Victoria Concert Hall, and further right is High Street Centre. They are not exactly close by; there's a bit of parallax error.

High Street Centre is 30-storeys high, while the clock tower is only 8 storeys high.

Shoreline.
At low tide, the rocky riverbed of Singapore River could be clearly seen.

Pride
Back when it was completed in 1986, it was the pride of the nation, the tallest building in Singapore and the tallest hotel in the world. Every year, there is a vertical marathon up the staircase from 1st to 73rd floor, and the record set in the first year has not been broken. (tho I don't remember the timing)

21 years later, it is still a signature of the country, as the 6th tallest building in Singapore and 6th tallest hotel in the world.

Entrance
The nicely lit entrance. Makes it welcoming, despite that the place is a very stereotypical cold corporate environment. The wonders that lighting can do...*sigh*

BUT. Let me specify that it isn't a superbank. I once ridiculed people about GS, and this part seemed to be misinterpreted very severely. I wasn't ridiculing not knowing, but people being stubborn, or thinking / trying to show that they know a lot when they are mis-informed.

Unfortunately such people are very common all around us. I really respect honesty, sincerity and integrity, and am honoured to be acquainted to individuals who hold these traits in high regard. However, conversely, I lose respect for people who live behind a mask.

Darkness
"We have all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are. " - Sirius Black, HP & e Order of e Pheonix

The juxtaposition of light and dark. But not fully happy with this pic cos proportion of light and dark isn't very even. Taken off the roff of a certain building.

And that's the end of the crazy photo-taking day!

After some documents, I have cleared the iPhone.

And this is the file photo that I took and put on Yahoo Auctions Singapore, to prove that it's in SG and not in Nigeria or some scammer's place.

No, I am not gonna open the packaging (which is quite nice) until it fails to sell in another 30 days.

Anyone feeling charitable can go bid in the auction, then pay me and let me use the phone myself. Mwahaha...no I've not turned stupid. Yet.

Today at gym, after taking some detailed timings, I figured out a few things.

1. My freestyle is faster than breast stroke in whatever waters.
2. My modified breast stroke is faster than my freestyle in the pool, and in the sea, when perpendicular to incoming waves.
3. My freestyle is faster than my modified breast stroke in the sea, when parallel to incoming waves.

The modification is rather simple. After finishing a breath, I dip my head down in the motion of a dolphin dive, and that lets me sprint along at quite a good speed.

Now I need to perfect my freestyle in order to up my performance in the triathlon next time.

I could be imagining that my modified stroke is faster, cos everyone else says freestyle is definitely faster.

*INCONCLUSIVE - needs further data*
