It's a lonely pre-CNY

Well, well, well....

The lack of posts seems to scream "busy".

Well that's the truth, hardly had time to breathe.

It's pretty sad, cos Clarisse will be flyin off to NY on Friday, for about 13 days (of which about 2 days is spent on a plane, 18 hours to and fro). Sad that I couldn't go cos the cheapest tix costs like friggin 1.5k via United Airlines economy... T-T

That's beyond my entertainment expense budget.

Tata to NY, luxurious hotel, good food, etc. And most of all, tata to snow... Yes, I haven't seen snow. We both thought we could see our first snow together, in Korea some time end of this year, but NY had to come along...

But... look on the bright side.

She's all excited for the trip, her first upper business class flight (11k for the tix, it was upgraded due to the lower biz class being fully-booked). She'll be holding my cam, so expect a bit of pix when she's back. ^_^

sho exciting.

However, it's gonna b pretty hectic for both of us. She'll be back on the first day of CNY (thurs), and work on day 2 (friday), and on Saturday she's joining me and my parents to M'sia to visit relatives for CNY, and we'll be in Desaru on Monday before returning on Tuesday afternoon.

AND.

She'll be flying off to Shanghai on Tuesday late afternoon. Biz trip again. This time, it's more within my budget, sho if her "up-there's" can confirm her trip sooner, the higher the probability I'll be able to get a ticket. Will be able to visit 3rd uncle and aunt, who were in Sg last June.

Classes? What classes?

Ok, I'm pretty much a part-time student, certified by my pri sch pal Mr Fong.

Rewind!

Last Sunday, I went back to my parents' place, and a package awaited me.

Yes, I smudged my addy, cos I don't want anthrax mails sent to me.

A super late Xmas Pressie?

From none other than the 奶妈

who gave a "postcard" of himself in a superman outfit and dragons roaring in the background. -_-

Ok, it's cool in a sense, silly in another, so I don't know how to react to it.

Anyway, a pressie from him is cool, cos we both sent something to each other before without prior knowledge of the other's gift.

The unpacking...

and Voila!

That's a trail of blood with 3 figures and the word "Sedition" on a Black T-shirt

And a close-up.

As you can make out the figures, the two figures dragging the one are in police garb. I kinda burst into laughter when I saw the gift, cos "seditious libel" is kinda a private joke between us.

Despite me laughing, it's a pretty cool gift. Making it even more special is that it wasn't easy to get, and got it from the original designer, which means it ain't cheap either. They say it's the thought that counts, but I really appreciate the effort that went into this. Thanks 奶妈!

As written on the postcard, the T-shirt cutting is not that good, so jon's not gonna wear his, but gonna frame up and leave as deco. I'll prob do the same. Also because I don't wanna be on MHA's "potentially dangerous" list.

Fast Forward!

Actually just two days.

I have failed over more than 20 times on the dell, and I finally resign to the fact that much as I try, I am not competent enough to write a driver for the wireless card for OSX86. I fixed up everything well except the wireless, and my attempts to write a driver have been disastrously futile.

Nevertheless, I moved to another platform, my living room Media Box, the PC linked to my TV, and succeeded!!! Well, at least in a sense. Managed to get every single device to work, except the Video output.

Which is the only slot that the house owners' tv can accept. Dang.

The beautiful leopard on a temporary monitor.

My first successful (in a sense) Hackintosh!!

Ok. Given this situation, here were my options.

1. Get a new LCD Tv, just so that the media box hackintosh can do what I always wanted it to do... act as a media server for my household.

2. Get frustrated enough to buy a Mac Mini and sell off the Aopen MiniPC Duo, which is sort of a downgrade - just so that I can get my media server to display on the current TV (I have the adapter from Mac mini to TV).

3. Scrap the idea until I have my own place.

I chose option 3.

So... I restored my media box to lousy vista, and gonna shelve the idea for now. But happy that I made something that worked.

All that aside, although Fenris has primarily been used for work, he's really a fun companion.

I probably haven't spent so much time exploring the fun factor due to overwhelming work, but I've tried photo booth, and I gotta say, I love it.

Well. She likes to mess up my hair. Nuff said. -____-

Me in a Noir pic with my new 'do.

New do sux, but well...necessity is all I can say. CNY needs me to look prim and proper for PR-ing relatives et. all, so I'll live with the hair for the moment.

Anyway, tons of other effects in the photo booth...I'll play around more when i have the time.
